November 1976 held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, “Schistosoma mansoni infection immunology” Symposium. This report is a brief summary of the meeting. Kemp describes the ultrastructural localization of host immunoglobulin on the surface of Schistosoma mansoni from mice. Immunocytochemistry studies have shown that there are mouse IgG1, lgG2a, IgA and IgM on the surface of the worms. Although some specific anti-schistosome antibodies may be present, studies from the host’s previous sensitization and rosette agglutination tests demonstrate the specificity of many surface immunoglobulins for antigens
