The phenomenon of the higher prevalence of respiratory diseases among workers in cotton and linen industries has drawn considerable attention. As early as the early eighteenth century, Ramazzini (1705) mentioned that cotton workers’ asthma is related to their occupation. 35039 in six districts in Balfast, England
