由中国建筑第七工程局有限公司承建的美术馆是天津首座国家美术馆,总建筑面积46011平方米,高度30米。其中地上四层,地下一层,设计使用年限为100年,工程设防裂度8度,剪力墙抗震等级为一级,型钢混凝土结构及混凝土框架抗震二级。建筑结构形式为桩基采用钻孔混凝土灌注桩,基础为承台筏板基础,主体为钢框架一支撑结构体系,总用钢量约4700吨。优质的施工材料保证了建筑的抗震性,防裂度及使用的长期性。建筑设计整体感强,正对中心湖区,正面采用玻璃幕墙设计,整体视觉通透、明亮,体现一种从自然走向人文的理念,富有现代综合性造型艺术美感。外墙石材采用的是不规则的石材,纹理美观,过渡自然,从大门进来一抬头就能看到上面情况,各个楼层区域很分明。目前,美术馆已经向全国征集了书画作品上百部,其中包括国内的知名画家、津派画家的精品力作,还有馆藏的经典书画等,都具有较强的文化观赏价值。
