不带任何偏见的看待作为图书馆的研究馆员的教育,在目前有哪些欠缺,即:哪些知识和训练是必要的;对于那些承担了新的、与传统的完全不同的工作的馆员要取得进步需要哪些特定的知识和技能,这些都还没有足够的研究和估价。虽然图书馆基本功的扩充是因馆员们的岗位和他们工作的部门而异的,但是什么是每一位研究馆员必须经过二、三十年专业生涯练就的基本技能和知识呢? 对于研究馆员的教育问题,是否集中在最近的大学毕业生中或是过去5年、10年甚至20年前离开学校教育的馆员而现在担任行政管理人员的身上呢?是不是应该考虑使图书馆系本科生的课程在理论上和实践上应等同呢?
Without prejudice, what are the current shortcomings in the education of librarians as librarians, namely: what knowledge and training are necessary; and for librarians who take on completely new jobs and traditions What specific knowledge and skills are needed to make progress is not enough research and valuation.
