下丘脑中隆起是实现神经内分泌调节的关键部位,各种神经末梢在这里通过不同神经递质,控制各种垂体激素的释放因子或释放抑制因子而调节垂体前叶的功能。其中多巴胺并能通过垂体门脉直接作用于垂体,影响其生乳素的释出,在生乳素分泌的调节中有重要作用。因此研究正中隆起的多巴胺对进一步了解生乳素(以及其它垂体激素)的生理有实际意义。
