Dangerous rock is one of the most widely distributed geologic hazards along the Lancang-Yu oil pipeline, which is mainly of fall-type and slump-type, in which the fall-off dangerous rock poses a great threat to the safety of the oil pipeline. Taking the typical falling-type dangerous rock mass of K0510 + 700 as an example, this paper qualitatively analyzes the basic characteristics, failure mechanism and influencing factors of dangerous rock, and uses the principle of energy conservation to quantitatively calculate the maximum sinkage Depth, maximum impact. The analysis shows that the damage of the dangerous rock to the pipeline is closely related to the volume of the falling rock mass, the height of the fall and the area of the touchdown ground. The larger the rock block, the higher the height of the fall, the smaller the area of the touchdown. The greater the depth of the dangerous rock falling into the soil, the greater the impact on the pipeline. The risk reduction measures for dangerous rock mass are put forward, which can be used as reference for the prevention and treatment of similar dangerous rock.
