Zola Neil Heston is one of the most important black women writers in the Harlem Renaissance. Heston realized that in the society ruled by white men, the colored people, women and nature were all at the position of discrimination and oppression. This resonates with the ecofeminist consciousness, which seeks to destroy this worldview of the male-dominated opposites that put women and nature in an oppressive position, maintain a harmonious and equitable relationship within human beings and establish a sustainable society. “They look at God” is her classic, a milestone in the history of Afro-American literature. In this article, through an in-depth analysis of the three marriages and the growth trajectories of the heroine Jenny in “They See to God”, this article aims to reveal the concept of marriage from nature, beyond nature and into nature as portrayed by Heston in the novel, Women and nature, the pursuit of gender equality and harmony of ecological feminism.
