[Abstract] How a penniless 24-year-old Polish girl was accepted by the Faculty of Science at the University of Paris as one of the only 23 schoolgirls? The answer is family love and support for her. Mary’s family places great emphasis on education. In order to enhance the educational opportunities for each family member, they have the courage to fight political oppression and strive to eliminate discrimination against women. Mary was born in 1867, when Poland was not yet an independent country. Poland is divided into three parts, each under the control of different foreign forces. Warsaw capital is controlled by Russia. In order to eliminate the influence of Polish culture, Russia denied schools the right to teach history, language and literature in Poland.
