Effects of tea polyphenols (TP) on mitochondrial lipid peroxidation, blood-brain barrier permeability, mitochondrial ATPase activity and ATP content in rat cerebral cortex under repeated +10 Gz treatment . The results showed that TP significantly inhibited the formation of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the mitochondria of + Gz stress-induced cortex, but had no significant effect on the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and selenium glutathione peroxidase (SeGSHpx) influences. By measuring the permeability of Evan’sblue in mice brain after intravenous injection of + Gz exposure, it is found that TP has obvious protective effect on + Gz-induced damage of the blood-brain barrier. In addition, TP also significantly increased mitochondrial ATPase activity and cerebral cortex ATP content in + Gz stress-induced cortex. The above results show that the natural antioxidant TP has a significant protective effect on + Gz-induced brain injury.
