正常的牙本质被釉质所复盖,与外界刺激不直接接触,因而不会有异常的感觉。若釉质因为某种原因而被破坏,牙本质暴露出来,因牙本质中有丰富的神经感受器,在接受温度的、机械的、或化学的刺激时,就会产生不舒服的感觉。这种感觉,好象发酸,而又近似疼痛,叫作牙本质过敏症。若刺激除去后,过敏现象也很快就消失。 Normal dentine is covered with enamel, and the external stimuli do not directly contact, so there will be no unusual feeling. If the enamel is destroyed for some reason, the dentin is exposed, and because of the abundant nerve receptors in the dentin, uncomfortable feelings can occur when subjected to temperature, mechanical, or chemical stimuli. This feeling, it seems sore, but similar to the pain, called dentine hypersensitivity. If the stimulus is removed, the allergic phenomenon will soon disappear.
