In his latest inspection of charities, the US monitor pointed out that the American Red Cross should still strengthen its requirements for the safety of blood products. Investigators of the United States Food and Drug Administration have found through investigation that more than 200 blood safety mistakes have been made in the Red Cross. The American Red Cross collects about half of the nation’s blood supply. This has been the discovery of charity violations of federal blood safety requirements for several years in a row. In a report published last week, FDA monitors said that some organizations, including the Red Cross, have never met the requirements.
