在当代西方马克思主义者的眼中,共同体是包容一切异质身份的人的开放体,是平等生命共创的民主场所,是倡导团结的大家庭。不过,他们指出:诸多偏见阻碍着共同体的发展,偶然性影响着人们对共同体的信心,文化战争与文化隔阂为共同体设置了多重障碍。但是他们更看到希望,如个体的多种需求构成了共同体最持久的合法性,团结观念为共同体增添了保障,而共同的战争记忆提升了人们对共同体的关注。
In the eyes of contemporary Western Marxists, the community is an open body for all-inclusive people, a democratic place created by equal life, and a large family advocating solidarity. However, they pointed out that many biases are hindering the development of the community, and occasionally affecting people’s confidence in the community. Cultural wars and cultural barriers have created multiple obstacles for the community. But they see hope even more. For example, the multiple needs of an individual form the most enduring legitimacy of the community, the concept of solidarity adds security to the community, and the common memory of war enhances people’s concern for the community.
