大青杨又叫河北大叶杨,是毛白杨的雄株,具有树干通直、生长快、材质好等许多优点,在群众中有“种上大青杨,胜过小银行”的说法,同时大青杨又是植树造林,改善环境的优良树种。但多年来由于育苗困难使这一树种分布稀少,近乎绝迹。我县农民李树国试验成功的整株带根平埋育苗法,使这一优良树种绝处逢生。这一方法较扦插育苗省工、省水、省种条,成活率高。在他的指导下,我县发展大青杨育苗地200多亩,成苗近百万株,为大青杨这一优良树种的迅速发展做出了贡献。
