In April 2012, the American Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) held ANTEC Annual Technical Conference in Orlando, Florida, USA. Many conference papers discuss the possibility of expanding the application prospects of new or exotic materials to their standard plastic processing technology. Of note are five application examples: the production of microcellular foam injection moldings by a new method of reducing the weight of the product, the extrusion blown film with barrier and antibacterial properties after addition of clays and copper nanoparticles, the addition of thermoplastic starch Blow bottle for bioregeneration, thermoforming of liquid crystal polymer to meet the requirements of high temperature engineering, and bonding of bio-composite by ultrasonic welding.
