石家庄市的形成与正太铁路的修建密不可分。可以说有了正太铁路才有了石家庄市。若不是 1 90 3年为了避开滹沱河大桥工程 ,减少费用 ,将合同计划中的起点正定改为了振头 (属今石家庄 ) ,现在繁荣的应该是正定府。正太铁路自上世纪末的 1 896年决定修建 ,到 1 90 4年 5月开始分为六段陆续施工 ,从 1 90 7年 1 0月全线竣工通车 ,到 1 94 9年 4月全线回到人民手中。其间经历了法国的修建与经营、震惊中外的“二七”大罢工、国民党政府接收为国有、改为“石太线”、日本军国主义践踏、重获新生等一段段生动的、不平静的、风云多变的历史 ,也是中国发展史上的一个缩影。现选编正太铁路修建时形成的四则档案资料以释读者。
