Exposure to particulate matter is thought to have been a contributing factor in the development of lung cancer, but a new study shows that inhalation of certain particulates actually causes some genetic program reprogramming to affect the onset and outcome of cancer and other diseases. The study will be presented on May 17 at the 105th American Thoracic Society International Conference in San Diego.
