OBJECTIVE: Urine samples are often contaminated with mixed mixed growth bacteria. The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate the effectiveness of this improved method of urine collection pad (UCP) in reducing urinary specimen contamination in children with suspected urinary tract infection (UTI). METHODS: Two UCPs were randomized to children under 2 years of age with the same UCP placed in diapers until the urine was completely saturated (single UCP group); a new UCP was changed every 30 minutes until the urine was saturated (UCP replaced ). Both groups use a humidity-sensitive audible alarm that shows the flow of urine
