The purely sounding world envisioned by Strawson’s “Individual” sparked many explanations and arguments. Most discussions, however, did not really cut through the point of sound, failing to gain a deep understanding of the spatial analogies of sound and of the ways in which Strawson used metaphysics to describe it. Through its critical comments, Evans not only effectively eliminates the remnants of the world of objects in Strawson’s space analogy, but also reveals the different types of implication contained in the world of sound through comparison of two kinds of spatial conceptualization The possibility of ontology.
