《珍贵的教科书》(第七册第3课)篇幅不长,但由于作者很好地运用了衬托手法,从多方面去突出教科书的珍贵之处,深化了课文的中心思想。作者在文章“护书”这个高潮前,不惜用较多的笔墨作了充分的铺垫。首先是环境描写:战争年代生活都十分艰难,更何况要在那种环境中坚持学习。“没有桌椅”;“没有黑板”,“没有粉笔”,“没有书”。在这种恶劣条件下,“我们”对书的“渴望”之情是不言而喻的,书的“珍贵”
