Objective To study the chemical composition of Astertataricus L. f. Methods Chromatographic techniques were used for separation and purification. Structural identification was based on physicochemical properties and modern spectroscopic techniques. Results Three terpenoids were isolated and identified from the acetone extracts from the roots and rhizomes of Aster trifoliate. The compounds were identified as chrysophanol, rheoflavone and emodin. Conclusion Among them, chrysophanol and rhubarb monomethyl ether were obtained from the Asteraceae plant for the first time.
