生物技术和新材料遗传工程的成就“驯服”基因(构成染色体的很微小的部分)是人类近十年来伟大成就之一。每个基因含有一个蛋白质结构,形成生物体。而且,基因可以指令开始或停止这种形成。现在我们已经可以对基因施加影响,至少是在实验室的条件下改变它,使之按照我们的需要“工作”,生产可供人类食用的大量蛋白质和为人治病的药物。“遗传工程”以这种方式开创了工业生产的宏伟前景。
Achievements in Biotechnology and New Materials for Genetic Engineering One of the great achievements of mankind over the past decade has been the “tame” gene, which constitutes a tiny fraction of the chromosomes. Each gene contains a protein structure, forming organisms. Moreover, the gene can instruct to start or stop this formation. We can now exert an influence on the gene, at least in the laboratory, by changing it so that it “works” according to our needs, producing large amounts of protein for human consumption and for healing human beings. In this way, “genetic engineering” opens up the grand prospect of industrial production.
