Abstract： GUA SHA， the movie mainly conveys us the difference between the Chinese and American culture ， and also the clash，integration of the two kinds of culture through the immigration of the family of XU DA TONG（the Chinese）.

Ⅰ. Introduction
The movie tells us the conflicts between the different cultures through the Chinese immigration to ST. Louis. XU DATONG （the main hero） who has lived in America for eight years ， in order to create a good English environment for their son Dennis ，they always speak English .and also XUDATONG achieved something in his work， In the award ceremony， he said“I love America， I have realized my America dream”， but something disturbs this. One day when Dennis felt sick， his grandpa treated him in the Chinese traditional medical way GUASHA. Because he doesn’t know English， he can’t understand the English instructions about the medicine. But GUASHA is considered a anti-law manner in America ， so XUDATONG was accused to the court. people all think he mistreat Dennis. in the court ，he wanted to explain GUASHA to people， he said “七经把脉”、“丹田”，he explained， but people can’t understand this Chinese traditional treatment. He lost， so he was forbidden to meet with Dennis .He felt depressed. He resigned， left from home to let her wife to take care of their son. At last his friend Quinlan experienced the GUASHA ， then they know something about the Chinese culture. And at last on the Christmas day the whole family was reunified. It is a moving movie. We can feel the conflicts between the two different cultures， values
Ⅱ. Analysis of the conflict
From this movie we can know many different aspects between Chinese and American
1 The educational manner
When Dennis kicked Paul （an America boy） when XUDATONG saw this he let Dennis make apologize to Paul， Dennis didn’t ， then his father slapped him. The Americans can’t understand this manner. They think XUDATONG didn’t respect his son. But XU thinks that is the respect for Paul’s family.
2 Concept of human rights
Five years ago， when XU’ wife gave birth ，but the situation then was too emergent， the doctor ask XU’s opinion， XU said he gave up Dennis to protect his wife. So the American people think that XUDATONG doesn’t respect Dennis’s life right ，in the court， XU said in Chinese in an angry voice“留得青山在不愁没柴烧”。In this situation， America people can’t understand it .they are confused 3 the ways to treat the old parents
In order to protect his father， Da tong told the lie that he made GUASHA on Dennis， the most impression scene to me when Quinlain was confused about XU’S Manner， his wife said“ because he is Chinese”. Our Chinese people pay much attention to affinity. Our Chinese people always think affinity over law， but Americans are opposite.
4 foreigners’ attitudes to Chinese Classics
In the court the indicated accused XUDATONG for telling the monkey king（the mythological figures in JOURNEY TO THE WEST） to Dennis ，and also XU worship the monkey king， but they think that the monkey doesn’t obey the law. JOURNEY TO THE WEST in china is widely-accepted by us， especially the figure the monkey king.
Ⅲ. CONCLUSION
In summary， GUASHA reflects the different values 、cultures between the western and Eastern， we get to know from this movie ：the communication with people from different countries is not only the language， but also the cultures values ；although different cultures lead to clash in the inter-cultural communication， we should overcome all the difficulties ， inclusive and understanding， we will understand each other better.
Just as the ending XUDATONG’ s friend experienced GUASHA， through this they get to know Chinese culture in some level， this fully explain that people from different cultural backgrounds can communicate 、 coordinate， hence， in the global world， we can communicate people from different countries better through tolerance and understanding.
