David Nash, immersed in a keen sense of wood, has a high level of understanding of the complexities of tree growth. His longtime base of work is the Wynn Chapel in Braunau, Gwynedt, North Wales, where he became the origin of his project, and many projects made him travel all over the world. In the Yorkshire Park exhibition, his 200 works become a highlight. The exhibition (beginning February 27, 2011) has a variety of pilot projects. These works lead the audience in a multi-faceted journey through the maze of indoor and outdoor mansions. Towering shape, squat shape, in an active manner together. Ghostly charcoal works, gleaming white light under the sky of North England. An almost primitive need for viewers to approach these richly textured surfaces - cracks, debris and ripples - strongly suggests the struggle for the trees to survive and the inevitable passage of time.
