油桐(Aleurites fordii Hemsl.)是我国主要的木本工业油料树种。由于油桐分布范围广,长期的地理隔离、自然选择,形成了地理种源之间、同一种源群体之间性状上的很大变异,表现为品种混杂、优少劣多,在结实量、出油率和油质等方面均存在着很大差异。因此,收集油桐的品种资源,合理的选择、鉴定和利用,尽快地筛选出油桐良种,实现良种区域化,最大限度地发挥良种在生产中的作用,这对提高油桐单位面积的产量具有重要意义。
