A retrospective cohort study of the long-term effects of a vasectomy on 4,596 azoospermia ligation and 4,340 unveiled vegetative tracts was performed in 7 communes in the outskirts of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The ligation group had an average ligation period of 14.5 years and a range of 10 to 25 years. RESULTS: The ligation group was generally better than the non-ligated group in terms of clinical symptoms of cardiovascular disease, changes in resting electrocardiogram, treadmill exercise test, positive electrocardiogram and abnormal fundus. This study was conducted in a population with low incidence of cardiovascular disease and low risk factors. The results showed that vasectomy had no harm to health in the long term.
