独立自主自办教会的原则是50年代由爱国基督教、天主教界人士提出,得到党和政府大力的支持而确定下来的。我国宪法第36条规定:“宗教团体和宗教事务不受外国势力的支配”。今天我们强调继续坚持独立自主自办教会,有其重要的现实意义。随着对外开放的扩大,我国宗教界与世界各国宗教界的友好交往日益增多,但境外势力利用宗教对我国进行渗透的问题也日益突出,使中国各宗教坚持独立自主自办教会面临新的挑战。 坚持独立自主自办教会,从政府部门来讲,要加强依法管理,坚决贯彻国家有关法律和法规政策;从宗教界来讲,要自觉维护国家主权,增强抵制境外渗透的意识,坚定独立自主自办教会的决心和信心。这里我们邀请国家宗教局有关部门的负责同志就这一问题阐述自己的观点。

All religions in China are facing new challenges in holding the church independently. Insisting on running the church independently and autonomously, and from the government departments, it is necessary to strengthen the administration according to law and resolutely implement the relevant laws, regulations and policies of the state. From the religious circles, we must consciously uphold the national sovereignty and raise awareness of resistance to infiltration overseas, and strengthen the independence of the church itself Determination and confidence. Here we invite the responsible comrades of the relevant departments of the State Religious Affairs Bureau to elaborate their own views on this issue.
