８２８黄瓜是以华北系抗病性强的品种的自交系为母本，以抗病、耐寒性强的品种自交系为父本，杂交育成的一代杂种。该杂交种长势强，茎粗、节间短，主蔓结瓜节位低、坐果率高，果实端直、色绿，果面棱刘明显，白刺，果肉厚，清脆微甜。经１９８４～１９８７年三年品种比较，两年多点鉴定和全国区试证明：该杂交种具有早熟、丰产、抗枯萎病等特性及品质优良、商品性好等优点。一般亩产６５００～１００００公斤，较当地主栽品种安宁刺瓜早期产量高２４．９～３５．１％，总产量高２５．５～５４．４％，平均亩增值６００元以上。在１９８６～１９８７年全国黄瓜区试总评中，名列前茅。全国已有十多个省市引种试种，深受群众欢迎。
