The opening up and development of Chinese history are inextricably linked with the introduction and absorption of Western cultural theory. It can be said that without the stimulus of western cultural theory, it will not produce a truly modern Chinese history. Since the early 20th century, Western cultural theory began to be gradually introduced to China, and soon applied to the field of history. After the reform and opening up, this process of absorbing cultural theories of the West has become more and more frequent, and its influence on Chinese history has become even more prominent. This has become a remarkable area. However, most of the previous studies are case studies. No one has so far elaborated on this issue macroscopically. This article will briefly review the absorption process and application of the theories of culture by Chinese historiography.
