Phillip Larkin is one of the outstanding post-war poets in the United Kingdom and an important representative of the “Movement School” poet. The “deception” poem not only concentrates all the features of Larkin’s poetry narration, but also shows Larkin’s exploration and reflection on gender relations and social ethics. This paper analyzes the poem in different ethical environments as the background. Through different narrators, narratives of the same sexual crimes are repeated from different spatial perspectives, revealing the people’s understanding of the relationship between the sexes and the ethical implications in different historical periods. The author thinks that the poem adopts the narrative ethics of urban roaming poetry and reflects the change of ethical connotation in the process of historical development and ethical reconstruction through the “crowd” of three different periods, as well as the ethical appeal of the poet himself.
