埃及作家纳吉布·马哈福兹(1911—2006)是阿拉伯世界第一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的作家。他一生创作颇丰,其作品深刻揭示了20世纪埃及社会的演变过程,并真实地表现了底层民众的生活面貌,因此赢得了“阿拉伯现实主义泰斗”的声誉。2006年,马哈福兹不幸因病去世,为了使中国读者对这位阿拉伯代表作家的文学价值与时代意义有进一步的了解,在本期“阿拉伯世界”栏目中,我们特别向读者推介了几篇译作。此篇为马哈福兹生前感时忧国而发的随笔,另外两篇是马哈福兹去世后,阿拉伯作家对他所作的有关评价。
Egyptian writer Najib Mahfoudz (1911-2006) was the first writer in the Arab world to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. His works have been very rich in his life.
