Gaoping’s history runs parallel to the progression of China’s 5,000-year- old civilization. Consequently this ancient tradition and the rich heritage not only give nourishment to Gaoping ’s folk artists and but also provide a fertile land for a range of folk arts, among which, embroideries, paper cuts, dough figurines, toys and cake moulds (handcrafted with animal or floristic patterns) have reached their apexes of development. These arts mirror, vividly and directly, this region’s life style and folk custom while refracting the evolution of this venerable civilization.
