There are many benefits to using coated glass molds. Good release characteristics of the coating to reduce cracks; can improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance, thereby extending the life of mold or die core. Plating creates the conditions for using different mold materials and stamper core materials to reduce material costs or make mold making easier. There are two main coating materials, one is hard chromium, one is electroless nickel. First explore their physical characteristics. 1. Hard chromium plating Historically, the most commonly used glass mold coating is hard chromium, chromium plating project. Typically, hard chrome plating is formed from an aqueous solution of chromic acid, with the addition of sulfuric acid or fluorosilicic acid as a catalyst. Plating is done at elevated temperatures to create a much harder, more wear-resistant finish
