Detective novels as the most popular literary branch, by the detective and the public’s favorite. However, the traditional detective novels have been completely subverted by literary star Nova Ke Aust in recent years. In the interpretation of Auster’s novels, the theme of anti-detective novels echoes the theme of post-modern cities. The open ending of the work will lead the reader to reflect on the city from the characters in the novel to his own reflection on the way of world observation and cognition. This essay will analyze Oster’s “ghosts” in the New York Trilogy from the perspective of anti-detective and urban literature, and consider the complex relationship between the city and the novel, the city and the individual, and the salvation and freedom in Auster’s writing.
