甘美朗(Game lan)是印尼合作乐团的总称,甘美朗一词源自Gamel,意即槌子,有敲打的意思,由此可见它是一种以敲击为主的乐团,主要用于宗教祭典、官方礼仪、歌舞、皮影戏伴奏、音乐表演。甘美朗是印尼的音乐主体,印尼除了人口最多最密集的爪哇岛,还有苏门答腊、加里曼丹、苏拉威西、西依里安等4大岛以及1万多个大小岛屿。甘美朗在不同地区各有着不同的音乐风格,最有名的是中爪哇、西爪哇以及巴厘岛3区的甘美朗乐团,中爪哇的甘美朗平稳庄严,西爪哇的活泼生动,巴厘岛的则激动多变,虽其音乐风格互异,但其乐团组织、乐器形态、音调组织还是有共通相似之处。
Game lan is the collective name of the Indonesian cooperative orchestra. The word Ganmenglang is derived from Gamel, meaning hammer and beating meaning. It shows that it is a percussion-based orchestra mainly used for religious festivals , Official etiquette, song and dance, shadow play accompaniment, music performance. Gan Meilan is Indonesia’s main musical entity. Indonesia has the four most populous islands and the largest and most densely populated Java Island in the world, including Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Western Yerean. Gan Meilan has different musical styles in different regions. The most famous are the Ganmeilang Orchestra in Central Java, West Java and Bali. The Ganmei Lang in Central Java is steady and solemn, lively in West Java and Bali. Changeable, although its musical style is different, but its orchestra, musical instruments, tone organization or have similarities.
