将小说等文艺作品改编成电影,应尽量地忠实于原著,但这并不象临摩字画依样画胡芦,不能增减。尤其是改编古典文学名著,应保持原著之精华,剔除原著之糟粕,使其思想性更强,艺术性更高,才不失为成功之作。彩色宽银幕故事片《胭脂》,便是一例。它是根据蒲松龄《聊斋志异》中的一篇同名小说改编摄制的。对照原著,影片的内容增删改动不少,我认为所增、所删、所改,绝大部分均属成功之笔。它扬原著之所长,避原著之所短,有其独到之处,值得称道。
