穆益林笔名燚林、禾少白,教授,中国美术家协会会员。1 944年出生于上海,1 966年毕业于上海市美术专科学校。曾任上海大学文学院对外文化交流部中外艺术交流中心主任,上海东方文化学院美术系主任。现为上海电影艺术学院学科带头人,中国管理科学研究院研究员。艺术作品多次参展全国美展和国内外艺术交流展,曾与陆俨少并获上海美术大展一等奖,全国优秀创作奖、二等奖,及“国际中国画展”一等奖等奖项,多次应邀赴日本及于美国、加拿大举办个人画展,作品被国内外藏家、政府机关、艺术团体和博物馆、美术馆及五星级宾馆收藏、陈列。,出版有《穆益林画集》《穆益林现代帛画精选》等作品集。自1 983年以来,默默致力于中国古老帛画的继承与研究,发掘和利用帛的优异性能,创造出独特的现代帛画艺术,为中国帛画在现代国际画坛上独树一帜正做出毕生的贡献。事迹入编《世界名人录》等国内外辞书。
