German collector Ludwig donated international art exhibitions opened today at the China Art Museum. Chinese President Jiang Zemin, German President Roman Herzog and his wife, State Councilor Li Tieying, Minister of Culture Liu Zhongde, head of the Chinese government delegation and personnel minister Song Defu, Chinese Ambassador to Germany Mei Zhaorong, German Ambassador to China Contech And Lloyd Ludwig, the widow of Peter Ludwig, attended the opening ceremony. In his opening address, Liu Zhongde said that the artworks donated by the couple of Ludwig provided Chinese artists and audiences with an opportunity to understand and study Western culture and the arts. This donation enhanced the cooperation between China and Germany
