1953年是我國有計劃的大規模建設的第一年,全國各項建設工作,在國家總路線的照耀下,都按計劃而且超額地完成了任務,給國家第一個五年計劃打定了良好的基礎。西北水工試驗所的情况亦係同一情形,本年度的工作都按計劃地完成了,同時爲了支援工業建設,額外給西北某些工業部門培養了大批的試驗幹部,並檢驗廠房基地土樣一百餘種,使建廠設計工作,能順利進行。該所1953年工作有以下幾方面。
