Some of the key results of large experiments used to measure the basic characteristics of the wave sediment transport process are shown. These experiments were conducted in the large oscillating flume at the Delft Hydraulics Institute, while others were conducted in Aberdeen oscillating flow tunnels. This series of experiments covered various water and sediment conditions. The results in both the turbulent and laminar zones are presented here, revealing some of the important mechanisms in each experiment. The focus of the discussion is internal instability in wave transport.
