Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum CA125 levels and other clinical features in patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). Methods: The changes of serum CA125 in 40 NHL patients during the diagnosis and treatment were analyzed. Results: In 40 patients with NHL, serum CA125 increased 48% of the total number. In low-grade NHL, serum CA125 level was elevated in 7 patients (30%), and serum CA125 level was elevated in 12 (71%) patients with advanced NHL. CA125 levels and disease progression, pathological type, bone marrow infiltration, extranodal invasion, physical decline, B symptoms, serum lactate dehydrogenase increased a certain correlation. In all patients, the complete remission rate (CR) was 63%. Among patients with low grade NHL, those with normal CA125, 81% achieved CR and elevated CA125, and 29% achieved CR (P <0.05). Among patients with advanced NHL, CA125 was normal in 60% of patients with CR and CA125, and 58% of patients with CRL (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Serum CA125 is an important prognostic indicator in patients with NHL. Elevated CA125 is closely related to disease progression, clinical stage, pathological type and response rate of chemotherapy. For low-grade NHL, patients with normal CA125 have a higher remission rate than patients with elevated CA125.
