Canada is a big country for immigrants. Immigrants, refugees and ethnic discrimination are very sensitive and complex social issues that deserve further study. Atwood’s novel The Robber Bride uses an unreliable narrative technique to create the image of the heroine Zenia’s refugee. Through the deconstruction and construction of the Zenitarian identity by fiction narrators, readers can see the ethnic discrimination hidden under Canadian multiculturalism and see the survival options and experiences of ethnic minorities. This article interprets the “bandit bride” in the context of Canadian multiculturalism and Canadian immigration history.
