Background: At present, there are many training programs for improving the related abilities of golfers in the world. In golf swinging, core strength and upper arm muscle strength play an important role, with significant differences in muscle strength between dominant and non-dominant side arms. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of core strength and non-dominant lateral upper arm muscle training on the hitting distance of elite golfers (almost <3) to propose a training program aimed at improving the ability of golfers. Methods: 60 elite golfers were randomly divided into control group (CG, n = 20), core strength training group (CEG, n = 20) and non-dominant side arm and core strength training group (NCEG, n = 20) . Three groups of subjects were trained for 8 weeks, then measured the hitting distance and isokinetic muscle strength. Results: The hitting distance of each group increased significantly (p <0.001), and the hitting distance of NCEG group increased more than the other two groups (p <0.001). In addition to torso buckling strength, all isokinetic measurements of strength in the NCEG group were significantly higher than those in the other two groups. In addition, the ball striking distance and torso buckling strength, elbow extension, extensor strength than other isokinetic strength indicators are significantly related. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with individual core strength training, the comprehensive training of non-dominant side upper arm strength and core strength can improve the golfer’s batting distance and thus provide a more effective special training program.
