Objective To understand the mental health status of officers and soldiers involved in nuclear industry. Methods The self-rating Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) was used to conduct psychometric evaluation of 90 officers and men involved in the recuperation from hospital using the DXC-6 multi-psychometric analyzer developed by the Fourth Military Medical University. Results ① There was no significant difference in the somatization factor and terrorist score between the officers and men in the Chinese army and the Chinese servicemen (t = 1.4952,1.8936; P> 0.05); the score of the forcing factor was lower than that of the Chinese servicemen (t = 2.0509, P < 0.05). The scores of interpersonal relationship, depression, anxiety, hostility, paranoid, psychotic factor, total factor score and number of positive items were significantly lower than those of Chinese soldiers (t = 3.7229,2.9978,2.7303,2.7473,3.9054,3.0265, 5.6536,4.4196; P <0.01). ②According to the screening criteria of mental health, 90 cases (25.6%) of the 90 nuclear officers and men screened positive were mainly physical, forced, interpersonal, depression, anxiety, Hostile and other symptoms. Conclusion The level of mental health of officers and men involved in nuclear weapons is generally good. Some of them have some psychological or psychological disorientation.
