Texas Instruments’ Defense Systems and Electronics Division has secured a $ 5 million contract to produce multimode radar (MMR) for the United States Army Special Operations Aircraft (SOA) program. The total investment in the program is estimated at 27 million U.S. dollars. Equipped with TI’s APQ-174A multi-mode radar, the MH-47E and MH-60K helicopters can fly at low altitudes of 100 feet (30 meters) day and night in harsh climates. TI is a subcontractor of the MH-47E Helicopter Radar from the Space Defense Group’s Helicopter Division and the MH-60K Helicopter Radar from Sikorsky Helicopters.
