文明的重建是今日中国面临的根本任务。文明重建的基本方向有赖于认清中国现代性的特殊性。中国文化是一种关系本位的文化,这一文化习性决定了未来中国社会中真正有效的社会整合方式仍将是伦理的、治人的和由道德精英主导的。这是我们理解中国现代性之不同于西方或其他民族现代性的基本出发点。必须认识到,在建设中国现代性的过程中,社会空间的理性化与自治是比政治民主化与法治化等制度建设工作更加基本的任务;而中国文化的习性决定了,社会空间的理性化与自治,需要通过伦理的、治人的和由道德精英主导的社会整合方式来实现,这意味着儒家的精神价值传统将成为中国现代性建设中最重要的力量之一。
The reconstruction of civilization is the fundamental task that China faces today. The basic direction of the reconstruction of civilization depends on recognizing the particularity of China’s modernity. Chinese culture is a relationship-based culture, which determines the real and effective ways of social integration in the future Chinese society will remain ethical, governing and led by moral elites. This is the basic starting point for us to understand China’s modernity from the modernity of the West or other nations.
