Iron deficiency anemia is a common disease in infancy. This review summarizes the physiological and biochemical basis of iron deficiency caused by behavioral changes in humans and animals. In recent years, the research on the intelligent development of children with iron deficiency anemia has been reviewed. Iron deficiency affects the development of the brain. Monoamine oxidase, dopamine and energy metabolism disorders during iron deficiency may be the physical and chemical basis for the intelligent changes in children with iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia can affect children’s motor, cognition, learning ability, audiovisual development, and may have long-term effects on intellectual development.
