High-spin states in I87Pt have been studied experimentally via the 173Yb(18O, 4n)187Pt reaction at beam energies of 78 and 85 MeV. The 18O beam was provided by the tandem accelerator at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI). The target is an isotopically enriched 173Yb metallic foil of 2 mg/cm2
