台湾煤田分布在西北部基隆至台中一带,呈北东——南西向展布。据1965年调查,原有储量0.66Gt(1Gt=10亿吨),至今尚有0.26Gt可供开采。成煤时代为第三纪渐新世和中新世。煤层薄,大多为0.3~0.6m,达1m的极少,且多不稳定,沿走向延伸极短。煤层倾斜陡,褶曲多样,断层较多。因此,多为人力采掘,成本极高。
Taiwan’s coalfields are located in the area from Keelung to Taichung in the northwest, showing a north-east-south-west distribution. According to the 1965 survey, the original reserves of 0.66Gt (1Gt = 1 billion tons), there are still 0.26Gt available for mining. The coal-forming age was Tertiary and Oligocene. Seam is thin, mostly 0.3 ~ 0.6m, very few 1m, and more unstable, extending very short along the strike. Seam steep slope, fold diverse, more faults. Therefore, more manpower mining, the cost is high.
