前近代中国社会的土地买卖历来为经济史研究者所瞩目并倾注于大量精力。论者或从土地所有制变动着眼,或从土地兼并、阶级压迫剥削入手,其考察的角度大多从土地购买方出发,如商人资本流向土地、缙绅地主利用特权占地等等,研究的对象也多为土地买卖中需求一方的经济人(商人、地主、官僚等等)以及购买资本;甚少涉及土地买卖中供给的一方,即土地出售者以及出售者在转让地权后所取得的资金的使用方向和使用方式及其经济意义。
