在中国古代逻辑史的研究上,梁启超最早于1904年撰写了《墨子之论理学》一文,试图用西方传统逻辑的观点概要介绍了《墨经》中的逻辑思想。1922年,作为我国第一本中国逻辑史专著、胡适的英文博士论文《先秦名学史》在国内出版,也肯定了《墨经》六篇中有重要的逻辑推理学说。自此以后,《墨经》逻辑就成了中国古代逻辑思想研究的重点和热点,几乎所有涉及中国古代逻辑思想的通史或段史著作都把墨经逻辑作为中国古代逻辑的重点和主要代表,对墨经逻辑思想的发掘也越来越丰富。解放后还先后出版了四本墨经逻辑的专著,而且都把墨经逻辑描述为一个相当完整、相当科学的理论体系,称之为“墨经逻辑学”或
